San Jose Beyond Benchmarking

SJ Code of Ordinances, Chapter 17.85.400: Beyond Benchmarking

The City of San Jose is requiring buildings over 50,000 square feet with an APN ending in either 0 or 1 to have Beyond Benchmarking requirements planned or fulfilled by May 1^st, 2024.

Buildings covered by the Ordinance are required to demonstrate either satisfactory building energy and/or water efficiency OR improvement standards. If your building is not able to meet these standards, you will need to complete an energy audit, retuning, or targeted efficiency upgrade to improve performance.
